We have been mastering the techniques of metal and plastics processing since 1953.  User-friendly solutions for medical technology and the pharmaceutical industry are today created at our locations in Germany and the Czech Republic.

2019With nextaro® sfm has, for the first time, laid the foundation for its own product line . With its own registrations in the EU and in the USA, the nextaro® transfer system for the reconstitution of lyophilisates created the basis for the successful use of the systems. Marketing has already got off to a promising start.

2018It was another successful year for the company. The planned targets were all achieved and in some cases even outperformed. On another note, 2018 marked sfm’s 65th anniversary, which was duly celebrated with the staff and their families, as well as retirees.
2017The new Medical Device Regulation (MDR) became effective as of May. At sfm we already started taking action In 2016 and began preparing for the additional demands allowing us to stand our ground in the market and to remain competitive. That we are succeeding in doing so is backed by the successful FDA inspection we passed with flying colors back in May.
2016In addition to the proactive business alignment with regards to the new Medical Device Regulation (MDR) expected to become effective in 2017, the focus lies on establishing local sales representatives and thus promoting the globalization of the sales department. With respect to this the sales companies, sfm medical devices USA Inc. and sfm swiss medical AG are founded. In addition with 2016 sfm brings yet another a successful business year to a close.
2015A moderate growth, combined with consistent investments into new technologies and the optimization of the company’s structure in the administrative areas, resulted in a continuing increase in profits.
2014With great commitment and dedication, SAP was implemented as the integrated ERP software throughout the organization. All strategic investments and organizational adjustments, throughout the past years, have led to the most successful year in the company’s history. With the demand to supply highest quality from one source, safetec was founded as a further member of the sfm-group. Safetec’s function is the conceptual design, project planning and construction of new machines for manufacturing and assembly, as well as control systems for a continuous process and product optimization. The consistent organic growth remains the organization’s main objective, which is planned to be met through further internationalization and diversification.
2013sfm medical devices  is still on track for growth; we are celebrating our 60 year anniversary. New construction projects for production and warehouse facilities are underway.
2012Renaming of the company from Süddeutsche Feinmechanik GmbH to sfm medical devices GmbH. Further globalization of the business. Regulatory Affairs department established. First delivery of application sets for kyphoplasty.
2011Market presence strengthened through expanded participation at international congresses and exhibitions. Participation in European working groups in the area pharmaceuticals and medical devices. Construction of the new plastics manufacturing facilities completed. Investment priorities focus on metal processing and surface technology. Double-digit sales growth.
2010Revision of the strategic direction. More focus placed on innovations and investments for the pharmaceuticals industry. sfm’s internal training development program, as well as expansion of  services in the area of regulatory affairs and marketing approval, supplement activities in the core business area. Double-digit sales growth; the number of employees grows to 200.
2009In spite of the world economic crisis, sfm enjoys a healthy growth. New products and production plants supplement the portfolio and expand capacities in all important areas.
2008Successful marketing of new products in the international pharmaceuticals and medical technology market. Double-digit sales growth through concentration on globally active OEM customers.
2006Strategic realignment towards the medical technology and pharmaceuticals market sectors. Consistent adaptation of the organization and manufacturing equipment to the requirements of the global healthcare market. Inauguration of a new production hall for metal processing.
2004Start of an ambitious modernization program for all production buildings and technical plants.
2002Reorganization of the company through consistent focus on the core business.
1999Sale of the pipe drawing plant in Aura. Relocation of SaFeMed to a new production building with state-of-the-art cleanroom technology.
1996The business continues to expand. The cooperation between sfm and SaFeMed proves very successful.
1992Founding of the wholly-owned subsidiary SaFeMed in Prague.
1971Acquisition of the business premises in Wächtersbach, since then the headquarters of sfm.
1967Concentration of the business on needle manufacturing.
1964Establishment of a pipe drawing plant in Aura.
1960Expansion of the company by establishing the Wolferborn site. Start of plastics manufacturing.
1953The company founders, Erich Bönick and Arno Götz, purchase the Süddeutschen Präzisionswerkstätten GmbH in Bad Orb (Southern German Precision Workshops GmbH).
