Precision – more than skin deep

Our story: How SFM developed and manufactures with a view to the future

It is a well-known fact that the past is over. What counts for SFM is above all the future. Nevertheless it is important for us to document where our company developed from. Here the most important dates:

1953

The founding generation Erich Bönick and Arno Götz purchase the Süddeutschen Präzisionswerkstätten GmbH in Bad Orb.

1960

Extension of the company with the location Wolferborn. Start of the plastic manufacture.

1964

Establishment of the pipe drawing plant in Aura.

1967

Concentration of the SFM business on cannulas.

1971

Purchase of the business premises in Wächtersbach, since then SFM location.

1992

Founding of the 100% subsidiary SaFeMed in Prague.

1996

The business expands continuously.

The cooperation between SFM and SaFeMed has proven very successful.

1999

Concentration on medical technology. Sale of the pipe drawing plant in Aura.

Relocation of SaFeMed to a new production building with state-of-the-art clean room technology.

2000

After difficult years there was a brief upswing.Upswing after difficult years. “Nine Eleven“ then however caused a turnover slump of 40 %.

2002

Reorganisation of the company as a consequence of September 11th and the world economic crisis associated with it.

2004

Start of an ambitious modernisation program for all production buildings and technical plants.

2006

Strategic new orientation towards the medical technology and pharmaceutical product market areas. Consistent adaptation of the organisation and technical process equipment to the requirements of the globalised health market.

2008 

Successful marketing of new products in the international pharmaceutical and medical technology markets. Again double-digit growth through concentration on globally active OEM customers.

2009

In spite of the world economic crisis SFM enjoys a healthy growth.
